Tips on how to get found online

Searches are more valuable than surfing
New Research shows that listing a business with a quality online directory like Gopher.co.nz may be an even better move than trying to claw your way up the search engine rankings, or spending your money on search engine adword campaigns.
Why?
Because, according to University of Missouri researchers, readers are better able to understand, remember and emotionally respond to material found through “searching” compared to content found while “surfing.” — Kevin Wise, assistant professor of strategic communication and co-director of the Psychological Research on Information and Media Effects (PRIME) Lab at the University of Missouri.
What this means is that your chances of a positive response, as well as being remembered by your prospects, is higher if they found you as part of an active search. Gopher.co.nz is designed to be found by your customers who are actively searching for your services or products.
Use accurate keywords
If you want to be found through active searching, make sure your keyword phrases are correct (even in the content of your Gopher.co.nz listing). For example, if you own a plumbing business, your customers are unlikely to search for you by simply typing in ‘plumber’. They’re more likely to use phrases, such as:
‘Plumber Riccarton’, ‘emergency plumber’, ‘plumber north shore, ‘plumber hot water cylinder’ or ’24 hour plumber’.
Use keyword phrases
Make your keyword phrases three words or more. Research by Overture Internal Data found that three word queries were the most popular (24%), compared to two word queries (23%) and one word queries (19%). This means 58% of searchers are entering three word or more queries.
